LoLJester
Just adding the finishing touches to this mission. With the Quad ATVs and all the vehicles available in this mission, it's so much fun traversing the map from one end to another. More pictures and videos coming this week or early next week. Thanks everyone!
LoLJester
Last finished building in this forest mission. A mini space port with landing pads for flying vehicles.
LoLJester
This is a new vast forest map that can be traveled by multitude of vehicles. There are points inside and outside of various buildings throughout the map that must be captured by either the Human or Alien side to complete the mission. These points can be reached by teleporting from one point to another or by traveling by foot, flying vehicles, or ground vehicles such as Quad ATVs, various transport vehicles, a tank, and mechs. The map is currently finished with a few minor adjustment being made to it for better performance. It is coming this month to the current version of the game which is available on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1643700/Visitors_First_Contact/

Code_Man
That looks and sounds great, wish you much success with it. Sounds like hell of fun and the map just looks fantastic, i bet its gonna be lots of fun. I enjoy just riding around in the jeeps i just managed to make on crappy sandy open terrain, that there must be on wild ride.
LoLJester
Thanks, guys. Here are some more pics of some of the vehicles.

Code_Man
Wow those look fantastic, if they drive as good as they look you got yourself a total seller and the map looks sweet too.
Duion
The most impressive thing is rather him staying motivated considering the bad situation indie game developers are in since almost nobody gets any visibility now anymore on distribution platforms, in the Steam greenlight days it was almost a guarantee you will get some customers, if you release on Steam, now you get nothing. I don't follow the scene anymore that much, but I think my latest conclusion was that all indie multiplayer games ran out of players at some point, even Unreal Tournament by Epic Games. fLUnKnhaXYU
the twist in the conversation provided just the inspiration to share this with you . I am a fan of indie production in a few arts . please tell them I sent you . that being said the prospect finding the hidden gems of computer gaming sounds a very worthy and oddly satisfying endeavor . indie master class IMHO
Duion
@fLUnKnhaXYU No idea how that is related, my entire point was that you will not be discovered as an indie nowadays.
fLUnKnhaXYU
sorry , I guess that was quite the tangent thing to do . I did see a few indie related web sites with top 50 and top 100 lists that were very nice with new pics and links . quite entertaining if I say so myself . So would you think that maybe games like fortnite roblox minecraft preoccupied many ?
Code_Man
With some luck his game might find himself a good niche to sell in, sure competition is tougher than ever, but sometimes good things find customers. And those screenshots are real good selling points for me, you might use more variations in map conditions and see how those look.
Duion
You need to face reality at some point and think about how to solve that problem instead of just ignoring it. The content or quality of your product almost does not matter at all according to my experiences, marketing/visibility is almost everything and nowadays you no longer get that by default. Yeah I was also linked in several lists, forums etc but that all combined for all time generated less customers than being on Steam front page on page 3 in some subcategory for a few hours. So you need to get visibility in some way on some mainstream platform, for example I first heard of Torque because a mainstream tech site made a short article Garagegames will open source Torque game engine because it went bankrupt, I thought there was just Quake, Unreal, Cry engine and Unity. So visibility is almost everything, content or quality does not matter you can fix that later, but you probably need a few thousand players first to find the issues with the game to begin with. LoLJester
After a long development time, the new beautiful multi-player forest map is now available in the game. Many features and bug fixes have also been added. Guest users can now play the game without registering, but their stats won't be tracked. Multiplayer mini-maps have been improved so that the player can have a better view of what is happening on the map. Teleport points are now available in the new multi-player forest map for faster travel between areas. New ground vehicles, such as ATV-Quads, Ground Transport Vehicles, Tanks, Sci-Fi off-road vehicles, and Spider Mechs, can also be used for fast travel between different zones on the map. New seat selection GUI is now available for each vehicle that has more than one seat. New music and sounds have also been added to the new forest map. Many major and minor bug fixes, as well as many other small features added throughout all the missions in the game.
fLUnKnhaXYU
I am very impressed that you maintain your VFC project and pleased that you continue to share it on these forums . It deserves more followers as you have succeeded to publish a multi-player and even communication with T3D forum members . just curious , what genre / sub genre or categories or whatever is your game listed as ? Videos coming soon , I hope .
LoLJester
Thank you, fLUnKnhaXYU! It is a TPS/FPS shooter with objective based Single-Player and Multi-Player missions. I will probably release a video soon of the new map. I started work on a couple of new maps, which should be just as fun to play in. Duion
I would say focus on singleplayer since raising an indie multiplayer game is close to impossible, but if there is singleplayer it may retain some players and eventually they will try out multiplayer, thats just experience from my game. Code_Man
I think duion is quite right on that one, you cant count on players being around, but with bots you can always have action going on even if the person in the chair is long dead. What tool is that that you use to make those maps? Im assuming you just export it as height map image and just load in t3d? Some time ago i noticed myself it would take me a lot less time to make maps if i just mad a rough grayscale image in an external program and import them. But ive not tried anything in 4.0.3 so far and i still sorta struggle setting up a dev pipline/ecosystem. Also i do have to say that looks quite professionally made, im assuming you do almost all the assets/code/gui stuff yourself. I can see right away that took a lot of time, skill and effort to make all that work. Looking at the screenshot again however i would recommend putting in more kinds of trees, duion has made some great ones that i still need to steal myself. Good luck with your game, i hope it gets the action it deserves.
LoLJester
I'm using World Creator for some of these maps and, yes, I then just export the Height Map to T3D. The assets are a mix of purchased with self made. I try to keep the right balance between the two, and only use purchased assets that fit the narrative and overall vision for the game. There is already a multiple mission Single-Player Campaign mode in the game. It was finished a while ago. It took me the longest of all the features to finish. The great thing about this game is that, even in the Multi-Player mode, you can just play alone against bots - almost like a single-player mode. The release trailer for the single-player was announced on these forums HERE. But here's the video as well.
Code_Man
Very nice, i thought of just making height maps with image magick or whatver, by hand so to speak and just import. Would be interesting if you could make a cooperative campaign mode maybe. I would like to do some sort of campaign/meta game for games but i have other battles to fight.
